Tetsuya Nakamura/Anyone®

Tetsuya Nakamura is a Japanese artist who was born in Chiba in 1968. Nakamura studied urushi, the traditional Japanese lacquer art, at Tokyo University of the Arts. Since 1998 he has produced the Replica Series, sculptures of jet aircraft and racing machines built in fiberglass and finished in polyurethane paint with the precision of a custom paint shop. The work takes speed and modification as its subject and draws as much from American hot rod culture as from Japanese craft. Nakamura has exhibited at NANZUKA in Tokyo and 21_21 Design Sight.
